BUSINESS PROFILE

Ionics, Inc. (ION) was incorporated on September 10, 1982 and started commercial operations in July 1987. Since 1987, the company diversified its operations to include the assembly of printed circuit boards and the assembly and packaging of finished products or box built, otherwise known as electronic manufacturing services. In September 1999, ION spun off its electronic manufacturing services to a wholly owned subsidiary, Ionics EMS, Inc. (EMS). Accordingly, ION ceased to be a manufacturing company and amended its primary purpose from that of a manufacturing entity to a holding company. In 2002, one of ION's subsidiaries successfully offered design services to its customer and also added an original design manufacturer component to its business line.

ION's subsidiaries are composed of Ionics EMS, Ionics Properties, Inc., Ionics Circuits Limited, Iomni Precision, Inc. (I-Omni), and Synertronix, Inc. Together with its subsidiaries, ION is essentially a contract electronics manufacturer. Most of ION's end products are components and sub-assembly which are eventually used as inputs for the finished products of its customers. ION's primary products include printed circuit boards, phone communication boards, chip-on-board assembly, head carriage assembly, wire harness assembly, coil winding and level assembly, component assembly, flexible printed circuit board assembly, among others. The company's manufacturing operations are conducted in seven plants located in Calamba and Cabuyao, Laguna, and one plant in China.
